Creating a social awareness project is very important to me. I really want my design work to bring attention to a problem that has not been solved. This project is based on heavy research about the Flint Water Crisis in Flint, Michigan that--yes--it’s still happening. My project is an ironic twist on a water bottle company. The company name, Lead In, is a play on words because Michigan’s nickname is the water winter wonderland of the world with the United States’ #1 leading, freshest water because of being located near two Great Lakes. It can also be read as “lead in” as in the amount of lead poisoning in people. The label has nutritional facts that list statistics that I have researched about the amount of people who have been poisoned by lead, the amount of lead in the water supply, people who have died from developing Legionnaires’ Disease (the other disease people developed from the contaminated water). This was all completed in one week.
