DGA recently announced that the submission period for the 23rd Annual DGA Student Film Awards for Women and Ethnic Minority Directors is open through October 6, 2017. Designed to highlight the work of outstanding student filmmakers, the awards program has brought recognition to a diverse group comprising dozens of directors. Notable past winners of DGA Student Film Awards include Jon M. Chiu and Patricia Riggen.

This year’s awards program is open to recent graduates or current students attending an accredited postsecondary school within the United States. Only films made as part of a student project between September 2016 and August 2017 qualify for submission in the drama, comedy, or documentary categories. Winners in each category will be announced in November and recognized during a screening event at DGA Theater. Each award also carries a $2,500 cash prize.
