Internship

While I interned at Ninedot: a purpose-based creative agency, I have gained valuable experience pertaining to graphic design.I was able to witness how a small creative agency operates on a daily basis with fluctuating staff members on and off site. During the beginning of my internship it was just Mark and I on site, with several graphic designers and web team members’ offsite. .As a design intern at Ninedot I was assigned several types of tasks. Various tasks included research for project proposals, small advertisements for magazines and other publications, photo retouching, text translation, and nonprofit design work. I gained valuable experience working on these different types of projects at Ninedot. The biggest difference between designing in a classroom setting andin the real world is the fast pace. With only having minutes and hours to design in the real world verses having weeks to design in the classroom. Also, in class you can design for yourself, ultimately whatever you want, but in the real world you lose a large portion of your creative freedom. Printing was also a large part of the design process at Ninedot, unlike designing in the classroom. I was able to work on projects that are two color designs for cost effective reasons. My intern experience at Ninedot was a great experience and very helpful for my transition into the creative work force.
