Mix: Language x Cooking

SENIOR THESIS PROJECT: MIX
Mix is a subscription box program that utilizes cooking as a language learning tool. Each week, users receive recipes from across the globe with an accompanying lesson plan to learn a language of their choosing. By learning in an enjoyable, hands-on way, users can not only grasp a new language easier, but gain a greater appreciation for cultures across the world.
This project is a result of a year-long research and development as my senior thesis project through MIAD. My design capabilities are shown through the project's branding, packaging, web design, animation, social media design, and overall art direction.

PACKAGING
These boxes would be shipped to users on a weekly basis, providing fresh ingredients, lesson plans, and recipes. Each language had a color scheme that reflected elements of the culture.
LESSON PLANS
Mix is about more than just cooking, it's about learning a language and exploring a culture. Users receive information about a featured country's cuisine and culture. Lesson plans are built into the recipe, so users learn while cooking using vocabulary sheets. Die cuts at the beginning of each booklet give users a quick peek into another country before delving into it's culture.

Read the booklets online: click here for Vietnamese, and here for Spanish.
LOGOMOTION & WEBSITE
The logomotion was created in Adobe AfterEffects to create a script affect. Acting as a home base for the program, a full website was designed for Mix. Focusing on user experience and fluidity, the Mix branding was implemented into a web-based format.
SOCIAL MEDIA
A social page for Mix was created to gain an audience and promote the program. Visit it at @mixlanguage.
EXHIBIT
Mix was launched during MIAD's 2017 Senior Thesis Exhibition.
