MoonPads are designed to guide children with autism
through fun games and other therapy activities using lights, sounds, and vibrations!
The project went through many names: Smart-Rug -> LilyPad -> MoonPads!
Below is a poster our team designed to promote our project at accessibility conferences.
Data is also collected on playtime through an app for therapist evaluations.
Here you can see our team understanding the best form for the MoonPads through iterative testing.
Below are some rapid-prototype laser-cut LilyPad models with lights and vibration motors inside.
A low-tech version of our project has been implemented into the Al Sigl Agencies around Rochester, NY as part of long-term design research, and the high-tech version is being engineered by students at Rochester Institute of Technology.
The MoonPad / LilyPad Project was a collaboration between designers, engineers, and therapists at Rochester Institute of Technology and Al Sigl Institutions.
