The Red Sole
This project was Product Detailing, to focus on a particular detail/feature rather than taking a Product as a whole. I chose my product, Cloth Iron.
The problem people sometimes face is the inability to know the temperature of the plate, leading to minor and sometimes major injuries and burns.
I wanted to focus on the Sole plate to distinguish between the two stages, i.e. when the iron is hot and when its not.

Material Used
The next step was to decide what material to use, in indicating the Heat Temperature of the Plate.
Note, since it will also be used when the Cloth Iron is turned off, I couldn't use something that uses Electricity.

Thermochromism is the property of substances to change color due to a change in temperature. I decided to make use of the same process in my project.
Ideations
The next step was to decide, where to put the dye, making it visible as well as taking as less space as possible.
Sketches
I chose Side of the Plate so as the Dye doesn't come off while Ironing of the Clothes and also making sure it stays close to the plate for maximum visibility.

Final Design
Scale used for showing two different stages for the ease of user, black when its Safe to Touch the plate and Red when you have to Be Careful.
