Lady of Infinite Patience
Watercolor and oil on Arches Paper
We were bored from painting in oils, so we switched back to watercolors again. However, the skull sitting on the work desk was telling me to ruin the girl’s portrait. Hence the misshapen skull profile on her cheek. Im not sure what this is supposed to mean, anyway, it does make an otherwise saccharinely sweet illustration into something else.
Im not entirely too happy with the final result (how many times have I written that already!). Most of it is in watercolor, and I only used oil paint as skin highlights and for doing the skull on the face. I am concerned now about archival issues as I did not use gesso to prepare the paper. I hope that the oil does not rot thru the paper, like what painting websites keep telling us.
