Kevin Belton's New Orleans Kitchen Show Package

Before we got started on the animation part of the show package we were tasked with designing the logo that would be used across platforms of branding and advertising. It's always a process coming to the final design for a logo. Here are some of the variations that we came up with to get there.
Until we finally landed on the final design
Show Open
For the initial reference fro this project the client showed us Burno Mars That's What I Like music video. as we talked through the concept for the opener we narrowed down the look and referenced the simple lighting and background from the openers to the Cosby Show. Since the focus was on Kevin we wanted him to stand out the most in the opener. Keeping the background simple as well as the contrast with the black chef uniform he was wearing helped achieve that goal.
Before Production started on the opener we created a proof of concept to show that we could pull off the look that the client was going for as well as walk through some of the challenges of tracking the animations to the live action plate.
Before shooting we threw together some rough story boards to layout the flow of the shots.
We filmed on set at the WYES studio in New Orleans where they filmed the show. All the footage was filmed on a Sony FS7. After the shoot to gather all the elements for the package we edited together a rough edit to end to the client for feedback.
Transitions
One of the other elements that we needed to build were lots of transitions between all the segments in each of the 26 shows. We edited or touched up 55 different images from Kevin's life growing up and build a hand drawn looking photo album frame for each transition. Below is a sampling of some of them.
