Re:Connect
Establishing Analog Ties
Re:Connect is a postcard project that my friends Sarah Bovenzi, Laura Culhane and I came up with while we were exploring Rust Belt Books in Buffalo, New York. We purchased 11 original postcards that were postmarked back to the early 1920's. We wanted to revitalize the act of physically writing to and connecting with others. We were inspired by the time, care and the passion of the handwriting in the postcards and hoped to acknowledge this in our current society by romanticizing the idea of past human interactions. The original postcards were sent to the addresses listed along with two post cards that we designed. Inside the package we asked the person receiving the piece to reconnect with someone that they have lost touch with, an old friend, or even a stranger and continue the pattern.
