“Vertices” is a student run science and tech journal from Duke University.
The original articles I was to design were cut from the publication, and I was put onto a rather sizeable article, about using Google Earth to raise environmental awareness, with a partner. We worked together on a grid system, laying out type, deciding on type and paragraph styles, and how to treat the images and screen shots we were given by our respective author and editor.
Individually, I created the introduction spread as well as the tree frog and seedling illustrations.The publication is 8.5” x 11”.The body copy is set in Chaparral Pro, section titles and captions in Avenir, and the title/sub-title in Helvetica Neue.
