Jona Mari's profile

Persistent Enamel on Glassware and Crystal

As a lifelong crafter and artisan, I longed to do glass fusing.
With the innovation of low-fired enamels, I am able to embellish a variety of glassware items in my home - without the need for a kiln.

My pieces have been distributed throughout the United States, England and Italy.  Custom commissions represent the majority of my production, and range from the whimsical to deco and nature.  Fern and leaf designs start with actual fern fronds and leaves, which imparts realism as well as the beauty of nature.

Later incorporating etching and cutting techniques in 2012, you will see added techniques toward the end of this portfolio.   This includes more design subjects, glass cutting, and Luminaries.
The following images represent a sampling of glass enameling pieces
from over twenty years.  Click to enlarge any of the images.

While somewhat difficult to appreciate in a photo, dragonflies are applied in several layers, so when viewed from both surfaces of the vessel, their depth of color and durable iridescence can be appreciated.
LUMINARIES - 2012
Building upon the enameling, and adding cutting and etching techniques, these pieces can be used with actual candles, or LED string or spot lights.
