Kendrick Lamar, my favorite hip hop recording artist, has been a huge influence in my life. The stories and narratives expressed in his music really hit home and I find myself always going back to his music for inspiration. 

The quote comes from an old song of his called "Opposites Attract". The line: "We hurt people that love us, we love people that hurt us", is a quote that calls for self reflection on how you treat others close to you, but also questions why you may care for someone that is toxic in your life. Sometimes it's inexplainable.
