Working with candy, pastries, chocolate, frosting and other baking products originally came as a creative solution to my youngest daughter addiction to candy. I thought that by creating scary sugar creatures I would curb her enthusiasm. 

Pretty soon, I realized the  plastic, sculptural and humorous potential of candy; and its historical and political ramifications, or its direct allusion to a type of photography consumed as eye candy. So, I set some limitations for the series: clear background, same model, only sugar and chocolate and started to work on portraits that mimicked or questioned characters or archetypes from the public imaginary.
