As a child growing up in Kolkata, India I was introduced to Satyajit Ray and his movies.
One such movie that really had a strong impact on me was ‘Sonar Kella’ that translates roughly to Golden Castle.
It was a story of a young boy who started having dreams about his previous life in a royal city. The boy began drawing out his dreams in vivid, colorful and highly expressive sketches.
The director Satyajit Ray takes us on a visual journey filled with suspense, humor and breathtaking art direction.
My goal was to bring out the essence of the film in my animation and I drew visual and thematic inspiration from the director’s art and storytelling style.
