Umbrella
Street Art
Why the umbrella? Starting with the development of the practical work that will help me in the research I have decided to create a collage in the shape of an umbrella. The reason I took the silhouette of an umbrella can be explained with the visual and symbolic (personal) point of view. On first sight the subject of simple geometric construction, and precisely because of this structure visually very appealing. The Firs umbrella was invented nearly 4000 years ago. The main thask than was the protection from the sun, therefore, actually first umbrellas were Parasols (Latin umbra (Engl. umbrella) = shadow). In addition to being visually appealing, I chose an umbrella for symbolic reasons: protection. It is not a natural function of the main umbrella - protection from the rain, but the case that symbolizes protection from emotional or everyday problems. Will passersby on the street interpret illustration
of umbrellas in the same way? I understand that some of them will not. Everyone will perceive the shape of an umbrella in their own way. But will I "force" them to think and wonder for what reason these umrelas are "exposed" on the streer and do they have a meaning?
