The Language of Flowers
My work is inspired by how the flowers had their own language in the Victorian era. It used to be known in society as a means of silent communication. To send a coded message to someone, allowing the sender to express feelings which could not be spoken aloud in Victorian society. They used to carry dictionaries that contained meanings for every individual flower. Lovers would exchange small 'Talking Bouquets' so that later they'd try to decode it like a secret message. And from there the idea came to me that flowers have the ability to bring abstract definitions to reality. One flower can carry many meanings and the belief in the meanings brought by the flower make it have the ability to transform.
