(5x7 postcards)
A series of three promotional postcards and a promotional item to promote the York Sheridan Program in Design’s (YSDN) Bachelor of Design program at the upcoming University Fair. The card design had to interpret the meaning of design and represent the design program. The concept behind my postcard design is “self-imitate” which can also be considered style, hence the tagline “Grow in Your Own Style.” Admission to the YSDN Program is only made to the top 120 applicants, therefore some design students grow in what they know, which is style, while others need it pulled out of them, or maybe even both. The York/Sheridan Program in Design (YSDN) is designed in a way that students simply build onto the foundation previously set as they progress into the next year. After completion, students will definitely be industry ready. Given this idea, I thought of things that have some sort of process to it and decided to go with a kettle. The liquid within a kettle, in this case students are the liquid and the kettle is YSDN, go through three phases – settled, boiled, pour.  Each postcard represents a process of the kettle and the four stripes symbolize the four years of the program as well as serve as “windows” to see what is to come in each year.

For the promotional item, I decided to make two stickers which emphasis the second to fourth years of YSDN. It is the design work from these year levels that students who are entering the program aim to achieve and are inspired by. I felt that stickers were the best promotional item as where one choses to place their sticker is a reflection of their style.
