EXPLORATIONS: Create a symbol set

Thinking about what I wanted to create symbols for, I came to the idea of Millenials. Millenials are the largest generation to date and numerous studies have been done about us. As the complicated communication networks have expanded through digital and technological channels, we, especially Millenials, have come full circle in using a language of imagery to communicate meaning. From emoticons to emojis to bitmojies, there are a myriad of images that we can use to express our every thought and emotion. I decided to create a set of symbols to represent/be used by Millenials.

FINAL SYMBOL SET: BRUSH AND INK

I wanted to take my symbols a step further. Since they are meant to be representative of Millenials, I felt that motion would be a step in the right direction. The medium and the subject matter were missing a connection, so I felt that this was the way to connect the two. To keep the medium consistency, I chose morph animation. I drew the different morphs and used after effects to create the final gif.
