Brailltography Type Design
The typeface is based on two already existing Alphabets; Braille + Square Alphabet (Nyctograhy).
Nyctography and the Square alphabet were made by Lewis Carroll, so he can write his ideas through
the night, without turning candles on and getting out of bed.
Therefore, I combined the Braille with the esthetic of the Square Alphabet. I used Braille and
I did not change it. Each dot is in the same positionas in braille. But I added the lines, from the Square
Alphabet. Additionally, I tried to make the alphabet visually similar to our normal Latin letters. But
at the same time I want the people not to understand what are they reading at first.
Giving them the experience of being introduced to the unknown as Alice was in Wonderland.
Brailltography Book consists of twelve chapters. Each chapter represents one riddle. The riddles are from Lewis Carroll's
books about riddles. Each riddle is tricky and interesting at the same time. However, to even read the riddle the participant needs
to figure out how to 'read' the Brailltography letters. Because the latin letters are hiding under the Brailltography alphabet.
When the viewer finds a solution on how to overcome this first riddle with reading the letters, the next step is to solve the other riddles.
At the end of each chaper the solution to Lewis Carroll's ridlles are give at the end of the page.
