Instituto Moreira Salles

Instituto Moreira Salles
Identity proposal (non-implemented)
The IMS (Instituto Moreira Salles) is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote the development of cultural projects in many areas, such as literature, visual arts and photography. The diverse range of activities of the institution and its multiplicity makes of IMS the biggest private conglomerate dedicated to cultural iniciatives in Brazil.

The concept behind this identity project lies on the Möbius band, an intriguing object that contains several dimensions in only one surface. Far from being merely a mathematical model, the Möbius band has been used in artworks, didactic activities and even to make music, such is the fascination it holds over people. And we see the IMS as a Möbius band: many dimensions within a single (sur)face; elegant in its simplicity, but also ludic; multipliable, but never divisible.
