Ladders (Initiation)
painted early 2012 after my initiation in Gabon
The ladder became a potent symbol after my journey to Gabon (a small country in central Africa which has a strong connection to ancient traditions and shamanism, my very own "Hearts of Darkness") and my initiation in the Bwiti Mitsogho sect. It symbolised the connection and means of travel between the lower and upper realms of consciousness, morality, reality - the bridge over which one can ascend or descend into knowledge or madness.
