Making Art More Accessible

Client: The David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA)
Project: Improving DOMA’s Accessibility
Role:  Graphic Designer

The Problem
After touring the museum in a wheelchair, I realized that some of the labels and artworks were difficult to read and see from where I was seated. I tried using the large print label book that is provided, but it was too large and cumbersome to hold when I was also trying to use the wheelchair. For someone who has to rely on a wheelchair, being limited in what you could read and see at the museum would take away from your experience

The Solution
I designed a simple mobile app that would allow anyone to access the labels and artworks.  The app would allow users to have easy access to all of the labels and artworks; organized by what level they are on and what section of the museum it is in. The app would also have a map section, so they can easily navigate the twists and turns of the museum.  This way more people would be able to fully enjoy all that the museum has to offer.
