The first job interviews on Tinder (except for pornstars, probably).
The Jupiter Drawing Room needed some hot new talent, so we decided to meet new people the same way everyone does these days: On Tinder.
The best place to meet talented young creatives in South Africa? The Loerie Awards.
In 2015 the Africa and Middle East Loeries Awards was held at the Durban International Conference Centre, with most South Africa’s advertising population clustered together on a tiny stretch of beach. What better place and time to talk to creatives than over Loeries weekend?
We somehow convinced three current creatives to replace their Tinder profiles with the news that the Jupiter Drawing Room was hiring, and replace their usual pictures of cats, wine, and surfboards with pictures of some of the terrific benefits of working at the Jupiter Drawing room like dogs, beer, and hot coworkers. We searched for men and women within a 3km radius of the main hotel stretch on Durban Promenade, and we found them.
We matched with 300 people over the course of the weekend, most of them total fucking idiots who don’t bother to read the profile. Here’s the first major learning: Men are idiots.
In the end, 300 Tinderview matches led to three resumes and an interview with one candidate, but we estimate that at least 600 advertising creatives and 10 000 idiots saw our recruitment campaign and thought it was pretty damn cool, and maybe that’ll pay dividends in the future.

Hi. I'm a creative director at The Jupiter Drawing Room, Cape Town, I'm looking for a hot new copywriter, and you might be the one.
That's right, I wouldn't send you back for changes.
Your kerning is tight.
You drop the Oxford comma like it's hot.
