We are All the Same- Stop motion Animation

We are All the Same (November 2016)
running time: 2:41
Mixed Media, Stop Motion Animation

The film mirrors my first impression of China in my childhood. It depicts an exaggeration of the unified Chinese society and of the way in which people are expected to have collective thinking and behaviors. The story sets in a world where everyone has no facial features and depicts 3 stages of a person’s life. The newborn baby has distinct facial features. When he is growing up, he loses his eyes, nose, mouth, which represents his identity has been erased and shaped to be the same as others.
