For this seamless pattern project, I went with a pattern of different basketball shoes. These shoes consisted of James Harden shoe’s Vol 1 (Red laces shoe), Damian Lillard 3’s (White laces shoe) and Kyrie Irving 2’s (Blue laces shoe). When I started brainstorming the concept behind this design, I knew I wanted it to be basketball related. I drew many different basketball idea concepts, before doing shoes stuck out to me. I immediately rough sketch several different ways to display the shoes in this pattern, till the idea to have them hanging by the laces came to me. I felt like this idea was really creative. The process of creating these shoes started in the rough and refined sketches. I knew I was going to have to digitally illustrate these, so I made my refined sketches to almost identical to how I wanted to illustrate them on my page. I used my refined sketches to draw the designs in InDesign. I played around with the background colors, and rather or not to ad the small triangular designs in the work or not for a bit before I decided to keep them added. I then finished my worked, sent it off to Spoon Flower, and wrapped a shoe box for display purposes when it came in. Last, what I learned from this project was being able to even make a pattern at all. I had no idea you could create a square swatch, and use it as a pattern to fill vector images. I also had no idea I could send this pattern off to be created into a physical form of fabric or wrapping paper. Read Less
