This college project tasked us with creating a DVD case along with blurb for a short film about a teenage boy from a disadvantaged area of Dublin dealing with soon becoming a father. An important scene in the film shows him staring at a box of melted ice cream and then throwing it away. It's used a a metaphor to the wasted opportunity that comes from being trapped in a cycle of poverty, crime and broken families. From this i designed imagery that overlay photography of urban landscapes with images of melting cream to convey a sense of things of being trapped and helpless. The inside cover showed classrooms and playgrounds which relates to the sense of losing innocence when you have the responsibility of parenthood thrust upon you at such an early age.
