Listen Hear Festival
Designed to be a series of events across the Perth CBD the Listen Hear Festival is a five day celebration of expression in its many forms. Young men in particular struggle with the concept and act of expression, often burying their emotions due to societal pressure to remain strong and stoic in times of distress. The festival seeks to encourage people to explore the varying forms of expression and ways in which they can express themselves to others. 

The brand identity for the Listen Hear Festival stems from the brand essence - Open. Being open minded, feeling free to open up to people, speaking openly and opening people’s eyes are all fundamental constructs to encouraging the open discussion of mental health. 

The visual identity is inspired by neuroimaging scans of human brain. These scans often show different parts of the brain firing and lighting up depending on the different emotions expressed or felt. To highlight the intangibility of human emotions, soft gradient graphics were used to create seemingly undefined forms, which were visually boundary-less. 

This reinforces the idea of openness and expression, the key explorations of the festival. The young people of today are immersed in a world where freedom of expression and freedom of speech are highly valued. The visual identity endeavours to tap into that stream of consciousness and open up the possibilities of expressing emotion in whatever shape or form that takes. 
We are limitless.
Free to speak our minds and from our hearts,
To dance and sing and shout and cry.
We are the underdogs, the dark horses and tall poppies.
We’re full of dreams, doubts, difficulties and differences.
Whilst our experiences do not define us 
They help us to grow in ways we never expected.
We are connected to ourselves and to others,
And revel in any good company.
We’re wall breakers and bridge builders,
Creating and defining the world that we live in.
Boundary-less in our means of expression 
we have the freedom to be as we choose to be,
And we won’t let anyone tell us any different. 
Most importantly we are open hearted and 
open minded in our pursuit of living a life worth living.
