Typography illustrations - Personal Project
Type Around Florence is a collection of type discoveries. Designed and inspired by lettering and typography from the streets of Florence.
The project was born as a curiosity for the city and for the typographic elements found along the streets. On my derives around the city I collect every typographical element that catch my eye, old shop fronts, street signs, inscriptions, or even manholes. I go out searching not only for the beauty but also the rare, strange, and unique gems hidden in the streets.
Design is everywhere and in everything, and finding the extraordinary in the ordinary is a way for me to keep my eyes fresh and push my creativity every single day.
The hope is that Type Around Florence can serve as a reminder that the city’s beauty is not only limited to its famous architecture or art, but it can also be found in the overlooked details of our everyday life.
At the moment the collection counts 85 unique illustrations of 30 different signs and inscriptions from around the city. And it keeps growing... you can check it here: @typearoundflorence
This project is in part an ode to typography but also a challenge to never stop looking around.
