Typography illustrations - Personal Project
Type Around Florence is a collection of type discoveries. Designed and inspired by lettering and typography from the streets of Florence.
The project was born as a curiosity for the city and for the typographic elements found along the streets. The signs, letters, no matter if they are elegantly carved in marble, metal or plastic, are an integral part of the history and identity of a city, and Florence has it's own.
The aim was to capture beautiful or peculiar letterforms to make an unique collection of illustrations based on the original sign but making a reinterpretation, playing with forms, colors and superpositions. Giving those signs a second life.
At the moment @typearoundflorence has a collection of 24 different signs and inscriptions from around the city, with 64 unique illustrations.
This project is in part an ode to typography but also a challenge to never stop looking around.
