Life is made of little luxuries. Never a sentence defined so well a wine as in this case. That’s what Escasso is: a little luxury shaped as wine. Produced in one of the areas of Portugal most blessed by nature for the creation of wine, the Demarcated Region of the Douro, Escasso brings together in a single product all those quality attributes, combining them with a very competitive price. The designation “Escasso” [scarce] is mainly due to two factors: its balance and added value of quality / price ratio and its reduced production, which makes this wine actually a “scarce” product but of considerable quality.

Taking this entire framework, the creative challenge for the wine branding project would have necessarily to present it as a “luxury” product, accessible to all, and at the same time with an almost handmade production, limited to a small number of bottles. Defending the concept of a “scarce” product, the brand operates a typographic family created out of the free and personal gesture of the brushstroke. Developed exclusively by Playme for this wine branding project, the typography Escassa becomes its main image. At the same time, in the label the typography transforms itself in a scarce type of font, symbolically representing the product singularity and scarcity.
