PROBLEM
Create a visual describing some particular aspect of a specified object (tomatillo), or how the object normally functions. Juxtapose the object with other graphic forms in order to communicate a greater context and understanding of the object’s functionality, as well as, potentially, its typical environment, and/or aspects of its social or natural context. Visual representations can be used to support the functionality and conceptual context that you are presenting. Present a high quality print, trimmed to size, unmounted.

SOLUTION
A 15 x 20 diagrammatic poster describing a tomatillo’s multi-purpose home uses, exploring the fruit’s ability to both heal wounds, and spice up food - only it’s not actually spicy at all. Looking at the object for what it is led me in two different directions. One led me, with a lot of research, to a scientific-feeling look at the fruit that broke down it’s chemical composition into understandable parts to help the viewer. The other, a more personal dialogue reflecting on friend’s childhood experiences with the fruit, thanks to a little known abuelita's home remedy for mild-medium scale wounds, as well as a tool to enhance flavor in countless dishes a the Mexican / Mexican-American household. The result was a hybrid of both dialogues, a more restrained case study of the direct attributes of a tomatillo that make it so versatile in its use in the typical home.
