Brasilia was once built as a visionary project by President Kubitschek in the 60s as a symbol of hope for a better future - hope sorely needed for a nation in its democratic infancy that was still wrestling with a long past of military dictatorships. Born of the brightest minds of Brazil, the city was designed from the ground up to be a modern utopia. 40 years later, the Brazilian dream has earned a few cracks - but it is still standing.
