When I looked at Gabor Brothers as a whole and what their Why statement was I decided to make a logo that was fun and unique. I went through a lot of different idea and ended up landing on the skull and crossbones vibe. On their sign it has a spoon and a fork so I used those for my crossbones and I used the chefs hat for the skull because their logo right now is three men with chef hats on. I liked the simplistic logo because it will look good if it is smaller on the corner of a menu and it will look good blown up.
When thinking of the colors to use in my different aspects of the project I decided that I would pull colors from the traditional Italian food like the red for the sauce and the grayish tan for the noodles. I also wanted to throw in some newer colors that I could add in every once in awhile as an accent color rather than a main aspect to my project. You will see these colors come up in my social media cover pictures.
For my Business card I decided to put a red geometric design on the top. The design will repeat itself not only in the card with the repeated blocks but also in the other print like the envelope and the letter head. I decided to pull my logo to the corner because of the rule of thirds it lands in the bottom left side. I changed the transparency to bring it into the back so the contrast wasn’t so in your face. I decided to center align my words to make it the main focus being in the middle of the card. The last thing I did was make a QR code that is registered to Gabor Brothers website. I made it more transparent as well so that the QR code wouldn’t have such high contrast against the gray background.
With the Envelope and the Letterhead was try to make them as similar as possible. I repeated the same Italian roof type design on the top bringing in the consistent design elements. Then I put Garbor Brothers information in the same area on both. I tried to make the business card similar with the watermark logo in the left hand corner with the high transparency so you can still write on the letter and you can still see the writing as shown in the last photo of the letterhead. I left a lot of white space on the letterhead and the envelope so that it didn't seem crowded and there was breathing room for more text that the consumer would put in.
For the Facebook profile picture I decided to keep the name in the logo because I felt that with the words there is looked more like the restaurant I was trying to capture and as you can tell you can still read the Gabor Brothers part even when it is small enough for a Facebook profile picture. For the Cover photo I used a picture of an Italian street that had fun umbrellas hanging about to show that this is traditional Italian food but they have a fun, excited and unique vibe to the restaurant. Gabors is different and I wanted to show that with the picture with the umbrellas because it is very different. The umbrellas make the Picture flow off into the distance leading your eyes. It is also has repetition that satisfies the eyes.
I chose the picture of the colorful houses because it brings in a few consistent elements that I have in my print and in my umbrella picture. It brings in the fun colors just like the umbrellas showing that this is more than your normal traditional Italian restaurant. This also shows the roofs that are very common which is what I was trying to grasp in the business card with the boxes in a very simplified way. I loved the contrast of the house color with the traditional houses on the harbor. The houses are bringing in the repetition to the photo.
What I did here was focus on the food. There was an article written by slug magazine that really captures the environment of Gabor Brothers so I put this on both the Facebook add and the print add. Gabor brothers is fun so I focused on this for the ads.
