In the spirit of continually challenging myself, I came up this idea for History's Iron & Fire that is centered old gritty metal type that comes out from the darkness into illumination from flickering flames, and then becomes red-hot metal, complete with smoke, sparks, and heat distortion.

I really wanted the viewer to almost feel the heat coming off each title.  I had decided early-on that I did not want to show flames or fire at all - but rather to imply that fire was nearby from other visual cues.

I was able to achieve all of this with a fairly modular toolkit, where another AE artist could easily just change the text for the titles and re-render.  In the end, it was a creative and technical challenge that ended up being well worth the effort.
