Fashion's Night Out
Garden Party Competition 2012

 
Fashion's Night Out is a global event. It kicks off the fall season with trend reports, guest speakers, fashion shows and of course, shopping! But this year was different for me. I had the opportunity to compete in a design competition along with other Oklahoma State design students and Clary Sage design students. OSU competitors were each given two yards of silk charmeuse, and one yard of silk chiffon. We dyed the fabrics using a shibori technique and draped our dresses in our fashion fabric. We had less than a week to complete our garments.

The Garden Party luncheon kicked off FNO for Tulsa on Thursday, September 6th at the Mayo Hotel and Ballroom. Guests attending the luncheon voted for their favorite garment before being seated for lunch and treated to trend reports and a fashion show.

My dress was awarded with the most amount of votes and I could not be more grateful for all the support given to me from my professors and family.
