Risograph Zines

Normativa was my bachelor in graphic design graduation project at São Paulo State University (UNESP).
The project consists of three risograph zines that present, in chronological form, the female empowerment process during a woman's life.

Sensitiva (Sensitive) is the first part; the name refers to the initial stages when women understand the concept of gender roles, abuse, racism and social imposition by the patriarchy. It represents the eye opening experiences most women go through at some stage in their lives.
Combativa (Combative) brings the fight against that oppression previously felt. It represents the female awakening and search for empowerment when breaking with social standards and patriarcal ideals.
Resistiva (Resistive) Describes the last stage of this process, the phase when women, sure of their beliefs, feel determined to fight against those dominant standards, accepting themselves fully and feel able to empower other women around them.

Techniques used to create the illustrations, in order of appearance, are: Illustration with drawing pen number 0.1, 0.4 and 0.8, collage, photography and photo editing, pointillism, woodcut, body painting, acrylic painting on paper and watercolor.
I also developed a poster using screen printing techniques. 32 posters were made into envelopes for the zines.

Normativa é meu projeto de conclusão do curso de Design Gráfico pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)
O projeto consiste em três zines em risografia que apresentam, de forma cronológica, o processo de empoderamento da mulher durante sua vida.

Sensitiva é a primeira parte deste trabalho. O nome refere-se aos estágios iniciais de assimilação das imposições de gênero, opressões raciais e imposições sociais por parte do patriarcado: O estágio inicial do “abrir de olhos” da maioria das mulheres.
Combativa refere-se ao início do combate às opressões previamente sentidas. É o levante feminino em busca do empoderamento e o início da quebra com a imposição social.
Resistiva relata o último estágio desse processo, a fase em que a mulher, segura de suas convicções, sente-se determinada a lutar contra as opressões que a dominaram, aceitar-se por completo e empoderar as mulheres ao seu redor.

As técnicas utilizadas na confecção das ilustrações, por ordem de aparição nos zines são: Ilustração manual com caneta nanquim preta número 0.1, 0.4 e 0.8, colagem, fotografia e manipulação de fotos, pontilhismo, xilogravura com linóleo (também chamada de linóleogravura), pintura corporal, pintura em tinta acrílica sob papel e aquarela.
Também desenvolvi um pôster em serigrafia. Foram feitos 32 posters para serem usados como envelopes.
