The Identity of Ulysses | prop for Domini Veneti
The “Cantina Valpolicella Negrar” winery was founded in 1933 in the heart of the Valpollicella region, a few kilometres away from Verona. Identity and tradition as well as ongoing research, creativity and expermentation – these are the core values that led the company to choose Ulysses as its icon in 2013.
I see the “Wine Mythology Label” as more than a packaging. It is an identity, a complex experience that is able to evoke the feelings, the nuances, the histories and the emotions of the product.

The aim of telling the story of Ulysses or his myth is an arduous task, is a project that requires space and time. It would be impossible to include all the courage, the cleverness, the passion and the attachment to his land in a single label.
This was the reason that prompted me to design an identity that, linked to Domini Veneti, complete and achieves the goal of communicating the important character of Odisseo.
In the twenty years that the clever hero passed away from Ithaca, his native land, he visited places, overcame obstacles and won battles. All these are the events described in the “Odyssey” and in the label identity through twelve adventures that start from the Trojan War to the return to Ithaca, with a common elemet: the sea.
