Synopsis

Inspired by the tempestuous yet passionate relationship between Mexican artist Frida Kahlo de Rivera and her husband Diego, this film explores the complex issues of obsession, rage and domestic violence while evoking the surrealist aesthetic of Frida’s own work.

Inspirado por la relación tempestuosa y apasionada entre la artista mexicana Frida Kahlo de Rivera y su marido Diego, esta película explora las complejas cuestiones de la obsesión, la rabia y la violencia doméstica, mientras que evoca la estética surrealista de la propia obra de Frida.

Inspiré par la relation orageuse et passionnée entre une artiste mexicaine Frida Kahlo de Rivera et son mari Diego, ce film explore les problèmes complexes de l'obsession, de la rage et de la violence domestique tout en évoquant l'esthétique surréaliste du travail de Frida.

Von der stürmischen und leidenschaftlichen Beziehung zwischen der mexikanischen Künstlerin Frida Kahlo de Rivera und ihrem Ehemann Diego inspiriert, erforscht dieser Film die Komplexität von Besessenheit, Wut und Gewalt und nimmt Bezug auf die surrealistische Ästhetik von Fridas Schaffen.

Ispirato alla relazione appassionata e tempestosa tra l’artista messicana Frida Kahlo e suo marito Diego Rivera, questo film esplora complesse questioni incentrate su ossessione, rabbia e violenza domestica, senza tralasciare l'estetica surreale dell'arte di Frida.

Production Notes

It may seem hard to imagine but “Una Línea” was shot on a blustery cold afternoon in Connemara - in the remote west of Ireland - far from the Mexican roots of the narrative. The film is a collaboration between Make-up Artist Ewa Doszczak, Writer/ Director Cathal Ó Cuaig and Photographer Katharina Gebhardt. It is the first acting experience for both Ewa Doszczak and Diego Rojas. The film was made with zero finance, it was purely a goodwill collaboration between a group of like-minded artists.
