This is an old project for the dendrology book. Dendrology is basically science about trees and my assignment was to illustrate 243 different species of trees, witch is easier said then done :)

First thing was establishing some basic visual traits of trees and then dividing them into categories. This was important because after determining the traits for each specie it is much easier to draw specimen witch is representative.

After that I created set of brushes in Photoshop. This sped up process of drawing immensely.

Next step was finding good refrance for each specie and after that finally drawing the three.

Rinse and repeat for 243 more of them :) These are some of my favorites.
