National Foundation for Transplants - Become a Donor
Dawn Johnson, formerly of USAA, is preparing to transition into a consulting role in the greater San Antonio area. Outside of her professional duties, Dawn Johnson is active in charitable giving both in and outside of her San Antonio community. She is particularly supportive of healthcare-oriented organizations, including the National Foundation for Transplants.

The National Foundation for Transplants helps patients who need organ or tissue transplants access lifesaving medical services. Its mission began in 1983, when one young girl's need for a liver transplant sparked an outpouring of generosity in Memphis, Tennessee. Today, the organization works to meet the needs of both patient recipients and living donors across the nation.

In the United States, there are more than 121,000 people in need of an organ or tissue transplant. Every day, approximately 21 of those people die while waiting. Unfortunately, less than half of Americans are registered organ donors.

Becoming an organ donor is easy and costs nothing. One donor can save as many as eight other lives, or make a difference for more than 50 other patients. Almost anyone can become an organ donor, regardless of medical condition or age.
