When you hear the word 'review', what do you think of? A passive aggressive internet post, hidden behind an anonymous avatar? The overly enthusiastic 'A+++ amazing seller, would buy again' eBay feedback (which has clearly just been given by a friend, btw)? What about the oldest review in the book: the humble music review?

For two separate issues, Rolling Stone Magazine commissioned Andrew Fairclough and Jess Cruickshank to illustrate portraits of Ryan Adams and Laura Marling, respectively. The portraits accompanied reviews of the artists' latest album, which were included in the printed editions of the magazine.
