Creative Fusion
Concept for event at The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design

This series of invitations and informational print design was done for the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design through the Visual Resources department. The Creative Fusion event is a fundraiser to gain money for student scholarships. For this concept I was asked to convey the environment and excitement that would be at this event to encourage people to come. I used lively colors and shapes to keep the eye moving across the various pieces. I wanted the colors and graphics to pull the viewer in and encourage them to go based on the vibrancy of the design. I used a lot of organic typography to convey the fusion of fine arts and design within the school. These typefaces also convey a certain amount of energy that I think only adds to the colors and shapes that surround them.

The various design pieces use different cuts to help the viewer interact with the design. I wanted to use power cuts and die cuts to give the audience something more tactile then a folded piece of paper. The larger invitation is die cut in the center and sits in the round, sculpturally, which was intentional. I wanted this specific piece to be the center of attention within all of the collateral. I wanted the viewer to walk around this invitation and interact with it as well as want to keep it to remind them of the event. If this does not serve the purpose they need, the invitation also folds out into a poster to be hung on a wall for a wider range of viewer. Each of the other pieces is more simple than the main invitation but continue with power cuts and energetic graphics to convey the environment of the Creative Fusion event.
