New Beetle "Think Bug" Ad

The idea behind this project came from doing an essay on a marketing campaign from the past. I decided to focus in on the Volkswagen "Beetle Campaign", which is famous for it's ads such as "Think Small." and "Lemon.".

It's art style was simple, black and white, using the sans-serif font Futura, which was uncommon to see in the 50's as most ads still featured serif type.

Another key factor in the success of their campaign was the use of witty language, irreverence and counter facts. It wasn't full of corporate lingo and typical sales pitches.

My designs feature the New VW Beetle and use the same key elements as the old ad campaigns. I wanted to give it an old school cut and print look. The copy is still a work in progress as I am not a writer, but the idea behind the title is simple and jokeful, one that most people would understand.

I used Adobe Photoshop for this project and a few layer effects, which made for a pretty simple project.
