Type World is my container of works and projects, a sort of imaginary fence where I animate a never ending evolution, that moves from a deep passion for words and typefaces. Type was necessary to this spread of words.
Alessandra Spigai is in between an artist, a craftsman and a designer.
She uses type to set words and quotes, discovering a new conceptual function of writing, but following a very personal and creative way.
Alessandra Spigai talks through these type objects and expresses herself with freedom, like in an endless game. Her art is not only a creative recycling, but a infinite regeneration and rereading, like a free fusion of media and invention. In each letter, she researches either the literal meaning either the solidity of the object, the imperfections of time and use, the graphic mark made of edges and bows.
Alessandra experiences new utilizations and techniques, moving from old pieces of wood to contemporary resins, from hand-made paper to industrial art. Every path draws inspiration by past and future, her steps always move from words, loyal partners of poetries and aphorisms. This is how she visually tells about legends and puns, seasons and feelings.
