Design and Making of my Wedding Dress
The Making and Designing of My Wedding Dress

Since I was a little girl...I had always dreamed, not about the Engagement Ring or "Prince"....but about making my own wedding dress. As a child and teen I loved snipping out magazine clippings of the most beautiful garments. Oscar de la Renta, Yves Saint Laurent, Vera Wang, Christian Lacroix...just a few of my favorite designers that have inspired my love of textiles and design.

Last October, my sweet boyfriend proposed on the beach while the sun rose, ... and I could not wait to run to NYC to shop for fabric!!!
Please enjoy the photos of some of the steps I documented of making my dress.

OH!! ...and it wasn't enough to make one wedding dress. Last minute, I made another dress in 20 hours.
I also made my mom's dress out of raw silk.  All three dresses I had made and designed in 3 months.

A slightly stressful.....3 months.

Enjoy the photos.

It took about 10 sketches until I finally could say, "AH! Yes!! That's it!"
35 yards of fabric....Tulle, Chantilly Lace, Thule with stitched flowers and pearls, Satin and lots and lots of Crinoline.......
Many hours of hand sewing to add flowers where needed and taking the lace to the satin....
