Glacier National Park Celebrates First Bike Your Park

A professional dog breeder, Dave Chupp has owned and managed a breeding company located in Nappanee, Indiana, since 2006. When not taking care of his business and all its canines, Dave Chupp enjoys spending time with his family outdoors, and loves to go to national parks. One of his favorites is Glacier National Park.

Located in West Glacier, Montana, Glacier National Park consists of more than 1 million acres and parts of two mountain ranges. It also boasts more than 130 named lakes and some 700 miles of trails. Due to the vast array of plants and animals found in the park, Glacier has been referred to as the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem.

On September 24, 2016, Glacier National Park celebrated National Public Lands Day with free entrance. This annual event encourages people to visit and support these treasured sites. In addition, the park hosted the first annual Bike Your Park Day. The bike event was held in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the Adventure Cycling Association. Bicyclists were encouraged to share the road with vehicles, but they were also allowed along three trails within the park. These included the old Flathead Ranger Station Trail, the paved path from the park’s headquarters to Apgar Village, and the Fish Creek Bike Path from Apgar Village to Fish Creek Campground.
