When I make the tactile experience of my objects, I remark that most of them have a smooth texture. The others are textured, and a minority of them are rough. However, touching the rough can makes people feel many sensations, like itching, stinging, pins and needles, or shivers, contrary to the smooth surfaces which are always flat and uniform. I also notice that people are hesitant before touching this texture, they do not feel comfortable.
Convinced by the tactile potential of the rough surface, I'm wondering how the product designer can reconsider rough textures.
