an ongoing art project by Nina Weisslechner
"BratisLOVE has become much more, than just two graphic cycles and a set of design souvenirs since 2005, when I first started this project. It has become a notion, an image, a worldview of how an entire generation relates towards Bratislava. It became #bratisLOVE."
says Nina Weisslechner - visual artist & designer
BratisLOVE 1
The first graphic cycle was created in 2005. It consists of artworks, which were inspired by lifestyle-illustrations and depicted famous sights of Bratislava in an unusual contemporary context: historical sights were juxtaposed with modern architecture. Even pop-culture elements like real writer-tags, found their place in the graphic compositions.
BratisLOVE 2
created in 2010, was inspired by the newly built part of the city - Eurovea - situated right on the riverbank of the Danube. The oversized artworks were decorating the Eurovea shopping mall. This time, famous sights of Bratislava were complemented with real commercial imagery and this all in a colourful aquarelle technique.
Simultaneously with the show in Eurovea,
BratisLOVE POP UP RESTAURANT
took place in the very heart of downtown Bratislava, in a beautiful historical garden (Citaren u Cerveneho raka). It was the first open-air pop-up restaurant in Bratislava for 3 months in summer 2010. Guests from allover the world enjoyed the cuisine and the fabulous atmosphere created with BratisLOVE artworks and colourful illumination.
BratisLOVE souvenirs
"Traveling abroad often puts you in a position where you want to bring a nice present to foreigners from your home town. This is what led me to create BratisLOVE souvenir collection."
says Nina Weisslechner.
BratisLOVE Christmas
In winter 2010 BratisLOVE was featured at the Eurovea Christmas Market, where people could enjoy another collection of christmas themed articles.
...soon there will be more #BratisLOVE on instagram, stay tuned!
