Still Time
a collaborative mentorship installation
‘Still Time’ is a sculptural interpretation of the DutchStill Life paintings of the 17 th century. Drawing from the symbolismof the Vanitas paintings of this time period, the installation includes objectssuch as plaster casts of produce in varying states of decay, a skull, a videoof a butterfly, and a glass toppled over. These elements represent the uncertaintyand fleeting nature of life and the objects are primarily white to depict theabsence of color in death.

This installation was displayed at AMOA-Arthouse in Austin in August/September 2012, as the final project of my mentorship to Kiana Corzine, part of the Advanced Young Artists Program. This collaboration is dedicated to Kiana’s latementor of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Adrienne Hussey (1985-2012).
