PROJECT TYPE: Commissioned art installation
REALISED FOR: Acrylicize, art & design studio (http://www.acrylicize.com)
LOCATION: One Strand building, London, UK
COMPLETION: 2016
PRODUCTION: 2D/3D
ROLE: Design lead + Spatial designer

Drift is a series of 8 fibreglass pebbles set in an organic configuration, forming clusters of relaxation and informal meeting spaces. Embracing the inherent lines of the building, the pebbles appear as brought in by a current, a drift.

The installation welcomes newcomers and employees to come in and relax, meet, or simply wait. It is designed to accommodate a solo relaxing time just as well as a 6 people meeting.
The essential features of pebbles shapes invite intuitive behaviour from its users. It encourages them to not only use them as classic seats or tables, but rather as their own piece of landscape, where they can lie, sit crossed legged, look at the sky ...
Non-obstructing to the building circulation flow, Drift  highlights the natural lines of the building. From the higher levels of the building, one may get on overview of the building with the pebbles clusters at its heart.
Each pebble is made of 2 parts fibreglass shells. Those are assembled and filled with expending foam to ensure the right weight, feel and stability. Each pebble is sprayed in different resins to achieve 3 different tones of stone finishes.
